Several major awards for excellence in crime fiction will be handed out at this year’s Bouchercon in New Orleans, and Down & Out Books is thrilled that two of our books have been nominated and several of our current and future authors have also received nods.
The winners of the Anthony Awards, named in honor of the late Anthony Boucher (William Anthony Parker White), a well-known writer and critic from the New York Times, who helped found the Mystery Writers of America, will be announced during the convention and Murder Under the Oaks, the Bouchercon Anthology 2015 edited by Art Taylor has been nominated in the category of Best Anthology or Collection.
Also announced during Boucheron will be the winners of the Shamus Awards, selected by the Private Eye Writers of America. Our own J.L. Abramo has been nominated in the category of Best PI Novel for Circling the Runway, a Jake Diamond mystery.
In addition, several authors who have published — or will soon be publishing — with Down & Out Books were honored for their work. They include a Shamus Award nomination to Robert S. Levinson for his story “The Dead Detective”, which was included in Coast To Coast: Murder from Sea to Shining Sea, edited by Andrew McAleer and Paul D. Marks; a Shamus Award nomination to crime novelist Dana King for The Man in the Window for Best Original PI Paperback; and Shamus Award nominations to two other authors — O’Neil De Noux and Matt Coyle — whose work will be featured in the Down & Out Books’s upcoming anthology Coast To Coast 2: Private Eyes from Sea to Shining Sea.
Congratulations to all the nominees! And we’ll see you in New Orleans this September!
